Honeysuck: learn through verifiable practice

Honeysuck is maintained by the site operator for learners who want to understand why code behaves as it does. It offers HTML, CSS, JavaScript, Python, Java, SQL, regular expressions and Git, alongside examples and small projects. Reading is free and requires no account. There are currently no paid subscriptions, paid certificates or AI tutors.

Choose a route

For web development, begin with HTML structure, then CSS layout and JavaScript interaction, asynchronous work and state. For data processing, combine Python with SQL. Java starts with the JDK and types; Git supports history and collaboration, while regex addresses bounded text problems. These courses teach foundations and applications rather than claiming to replace comprehensive official references. Each lesson states its prerequisites.

How the lessons work

Lessons introduce a problem, explain the mechanism, provide copyable code and trace the outcome before discussing failure cases and limits. Try challenges before opening their reasoned solutions. Deeper labs isolate confusing behavior such as shallow copying, form submission, join aggregation and asynchronous errors. Projects provide complete primary source and acceptance steps; they do not guarantee production security, concurrency or operations.

Checking and maintaining content

References favor language and platform documentation. The 25 deeper labs added on 29 September 2026 were run in their relevant browser, Python, JDK 21, SQLite or Git environments. This is not coverage of every browser, operating system or future version. Version-dependent examples state their requirements. Pages show an update date; corrections focus on code, reasoning and consistency between languages. We do not claim invented author credentials or certifications.

Languages and practice data

English is the default. Open the language button and choose English or Chinese to keep the current article. The site does not execute visitor code on its server. Copied examples may use browser storage for the origin where you run them; preserve needed practice data before clearing it.
